The GTA 5 Money Cheat – The Real Truth
Here is the honest answer that most websites hide from you: there is no official GTA 5 money cheat code. Rockstar Games deliberately left a money cheat out of GTA 5 – unlike previous GTA games where money cheats existed, GTA 5 has no button combination or console command that gives you free cash.
Why There Is No GTA 5 Money Cheat
| Reason | Detail |
|---|---|
| GTA Online protection | Rockstar removed the money cheat to protect GTA Online economy – a cheat that worked in story mode could be exploited online |
| Story mode design | GTA 5 story mode was designed around earning money through heists and missions as core gameplay progression |
| Shark Card revenue | Rockstar sells Shark Cards for GTA Online money – a free money cheat would directly compete with this revenue stream |
| Previous GTA games had cheats | GTA San Andreas and GTA Vice City had money cheats – this was a deliberate change for GTA 5 |
What About Money Cheat Generators Online?
| Claim | Reality |
|---|---|
| “Free GTA 5 money generator” | 100% scam – these sites steal personal information and Rockstar account credentials |
| “Unlimited money cheat code” | Does not exist – any site claiming this is lying to get your clicks |
| “Money cheat PS4/PS5” | No such cheat exists on any platform – button combinations only work for other cheats not money |
| “Modded accounts” | Violates Rockstar Terms of Service and risks permanent account ban |
The good news: While there is no money cheat, GTA 5 has over 40 other working cheat codes for invincibility, weapons, vehicles, and more – all listed below. And the story mode has several legitimate methods to earn millions of dollars fast which are covered at the bottom of this guide.
How to Enter Cheat Codes in GTA 5
GTA 5 cheat codes can be entered three different ways depending on your platform:
Method 1 – Button Combinations (PS4, PS5, Xbox)
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Be in active gameplay – NOT in the pause menu or cutscene |
| Step 2 | Enter the button combination quickly without pausing |
| Step 3 | A confirmation message appears on screen when cheat activates |
| Step 4 | The cheat is now active – effects vary by cheat type |
Method 2 – PC Console
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Press the tilde key (~) during active gameplay to open the console |
| Step 2 | Type the cheat code exactly as shown – codes are not case sensitive on PC |
| Step 3 | Press Enter to activate |
| Step 4 | Confirmation appears on screen |
Method 3 – In-Game Phone (All Platforms)
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Open your in-game phone by pressing Up on the D-pad (console) or Up arrow key (PC) |
| Step 2 | Go to the phone dial pad |
| Step 3 | Dial the phone number cheat code |
| Step 4 | Press call – cheat activates immediately |
| Note | Phone number cheats save to your phone contacts for easy re-use |
Important Rules for GTA 5 Cheats
| Rule | Detail |

| Reload to reset | Most cheats reset when you reload a save or restart the game |

How to Get Money Fast in GTA 5 Story Mode
Since there is no money cheat, here are the best legitimate methods to earn millions fast in GTA 5 story mode:
Method 1 – Stock Market Assassination Missions (Best Method)
| Mission | Stock to Buy | When to Sell | Profit Potential |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel Assassination | Buy BET before mission | Sell after completing | Moderate – forced story mission |
| Multi-Target Assassination | Buy RIF before mission | Sell after completing | High |
| Vice Assassination | Buy MAZ before mission | Sell after completing | High |
| Bus Assassination | Buy VAPID after mission | Sell 2-3 days later in game | Very High |
| Construction Assassination | Buy GCD after mission | Sell 2-3 days later in game | Extremely High |
Pro tip: Complete the main story first before doing the assassination missions (except the Hotel Assassination which is required). With all three characters having maximum cash from the final heist, the stock investments from remaining assassinations can earn you over $2 billion combined.
Method 2 – The Big Score Finale Heist
The final story mission “The Big Score” pays out over $201 million split between the three characters when choosing the obvious approach, or significantly more with the subtle approach. This is by far the biggest single payout in GTA 5 story mode. Maximize this by completing all preparation missions perfectly.
Method 3 – Armored Truck Robberies
Armored trucks spawn randomly around Los Santos carrying up to $8,000 in the back. Destroy the back doors with explosives, collect the cash bag, and escape the police. These respawn regularly and provide consistent income while exploring the open world.
Method 4 – ATM Robberies
Watch for NPCs using ATMs around the city. Wait until they withdraw cash, then rob them for the freshly withdrawn money. NPCs withdraw more cash from ATMs than they normally carry, making this more profitable than random muggings.
How to Get Money in GTA Online

FAQs
1. Is there a GTA 5 money cheat code?
No – there is no official GTA 5 money cheat code. Rockstar Games deliberately did not include a money cheat in GTA 5 on any platform including PS4, PS5, Xbox, or PC. Any website claiming to have a working money cheat code is incorrect. The best ways to get money in GTA 5 story mode are the Stock Market Assassination missions which can earn over $2 billion combined, and completing the final heist.
2. What is the GTA 5 money cheat for PS4?
There is no money cheat for GTA 5 on PS4. Rockstar Games removed the money cheat that existed in previous GTA games. No button combination gives free money on PS4 or any other platform. To earn maximum money on PS4, complete the five Lester Assassination missions using stock market manipulation – this method can earn all three characters over $2 billion combined.
3. What are the best GTA 5 cheats?
The best GTA 5 cheats are Invincibility (PAINKILLER on PC, or phone number 1-999-724-654-5537 on all platforms), Give All Weapons (TOOLUP on PC), Spawn Buzzard Helicopter (BUZZOFF on PC), Lower Wanted Level (LAWYERUP on PC), and Explosive Ammo Rounds (HIGHEX on PC). For PS4 and Xbox use the corresponding button combinations listed in this guide.
4. Do GTA 5 cheats work in GTA Online?
No – GTA 5 cheats do not work in GTA Online. All cheat codes are exclusively for GTA 5 story mode. Attempting to enter cheats in GTA Online has no effect. Rockstar actively monitors GTA Online for cheating and modding – using unauthorized money hacks in GTA Online risks a permanent account ban.
5. How do I enter cheat codes in GTA 5 on PC?
On PC, press the tilde key (~) during active gameplay to open the developer console, type the cheat code such as PAINKILLER for invincibility or TOOLUP for all weapons, then press Enter. A confirmation message appears on screen when the cheat activates. Alternatively, dial phone number cheats through the in-game phone by pressing the Up arrow key.
6. How long does GTA 5 invincibility cheat last?
The GTA 5 invincibility cheat lasts exactly 5 minutes per activation. After 5 minutes your character becomes vulnerable again. Re-enter the cheat code to extend invincibility for another 5 minutes. The phone number 1-999-724-654-5537 is the easiest way to re-enter it quickly since it saves to your contacts after the first use.
7. Can you save your game after using cheats in GTA 5?
You can save after using cheats in GTA 5 but it is not recommended. Activating cheats permanently disables achievements and trophies for that save file session. If you save with an active cheat, the achievement/trophy lock may persist. Best practice is to save before using cheats, use cheats for a fun session, then reload from your clean save to preserve your achievement progress.
8. How do you get unlimited money in GTA 5 story mode?
While there is no unlimited money cheat, the closest method is the Stock Market Assassination exploit. After completing the main story, do all five Lester Assassination missions while investing all available money in the specified stocks before each mission and selling at peak profit. With all three characters fully funded from the Big Score heist, this method realistically generates over $2 billion across all three characters.
9. What is the GTA 5 invincibility cheat code for Xbox?
The GTA 5 invincibility cheat for Xbox is Right, A, Right, Left, Right, RB, Right, Left, A, Y. Enter this combination quickly during active gameplay without pausing. A message confirms activation. The cheat lasts 5 minutes and must be re-entered to extend. The phone number method (1-999-724-654-5537) also works on Xbox and is easier to use after saving it to contacts.
10. Are GTA 5 cheats the same on PS5 as PS4?
Yes – GTA 5 cheat codes are identical on PS5 and PS4. The same button combinations work on both consoles because GTA 5 PS5 is a version of the PS4 game. All the button combinations listed in this guide for PS4 work exactly the same way on PS5. The phone number cheats also work identically on both platforms.
